This is all the technology we packed to travel the world! In as short a time as possible, we’ll explain all the technology we packed in our tech bag for our year long RTW trip. Some of the tech we brought with us on the trip was necessary-other things ended up being the opposite.
When you’re planning long term travel, it means that inevitably, you’re going to be bringing a gadget or two alone with you. At bare minimum, it’s probably going to be your cell phone. However, depending what your goals are while abroad, you might plan on a lot more.
After 1 year around the world in only the carry-on friendly Osprey Porter 46L we have packing down to a science. We don't believe there is a perfect "list" because, to be honest, we swapped clothes in and out along the entire trip. In March 2016, we spent six weeks living out of a WickedCamper Campervan. The items we describe in the video are essential items that made our extended backpacker camping trip that much better. When you have a few luxuries with you, it makes a huge difference.

Overall, we found the trip to New Zealand to not cost nearly as much as had been rumored. New Zealand is quite affordable if you plan correctly (and don't eat at restaurants!)
Anyone thinking about long term travel should have an International Driving Permit on their travel prep checklist. An International Driving Permit is easy to get, inexpensive, and will make your life abroad that much easier.
